Off The Grid Picnic @ the Presidio- Last Day in SF!

The Créme Bruleé Cart's The Godric- A Dulce de Leche Créme Bruleé with a hint of goat's milk. Topped with melted chocolate, creme fraiche, and a light drizzle of chocolate sauce.

My last morning in San Francisco was spent at Off the Grid's Picnic @ the Presidio. I knew I wanted to go to one of Off the Grid's events, and their most popular was in Fort Mason. I Yelped it, and saw how crowded and crazy it could be, and wanted to take it easy on my last day and just relax. Instead, Picnic in the Presidio was perfect......except a little chilly. Maybe a LOT chilly!

There were a lot of families who enjoyed their Sunday here, and were definitely prepared. Prepared with fold out tables and benches, blankets, coolers, alcohol, and money! Gets pretty pricey here, but oh-so worth it. I highly recommend doing this at least once on your stay here. If it's a sunny, warmer day, I can just imagine how awesome it would be! Looking out in the distance, you can also see the water. It is just beautiful in the Presidio.

Hours are from 11am-4pm. If you go early like we did, there is lots of parking in the lot closest to the park. If not, you will find parking, but will have to walk a bit. I highly recommend going early to get a good parking spot, and a good lawn spot. It got pretty crowded an hour or two later, and the lawn was filled with families and kiddies running around.

I wanted to also recommend some food! The Streatery Truck had the BEST food of everything we bought. We started off with Strawberry and Watermelon Lemonade, which was so fresh and uplifting. Then I ordered the Oxtail and Grits and Ed had the Brisket Sandwich. I loved my Oxtail, which was supple, and sat on top of Grits. It was my first time having Grits, which was very mushy, but not so thick and flour-y like mashed potatoes. I wish they gave a little more Oxtail it was so good!

Ed loved his Brisket Sandwich which had a savory summer fruit jam spread on their house-made bun. The bun was crispy, but with the jam soaked in, it made for an absolutely juicy sandwich. He said it went well with spring greens that were tossed with a caramelized onion dressing.

The Créme Bruleé Cart was also a hit. We ordered the Godric- a rich Dulce de Leche créme filling with the slight flavoring of Goat's Milk. I loved this part of it! Sadly, it was overpowered by the chocolate bits and chocolate sauce. I would have preferred a bit less. It was still a luscious (expensive) little treat at $7!

Would love to go back and eat here again! Check HERE for the calendar!

Strawberry and Watermelon Lemonade

Tataki's sauces for their Rolls and Sushi

Tataki's Spicy Albacore and Garlic- all items $4, mix and match 4 for $15. Spicy Albacore was definitely that- SPICY! So spicy I could hardly taste any other flavors. I also added kabayaki sauce and wasabi aioli on top.
