Fresh Dole Whip Cone! |
Whenever I need to get away from city life in Honolulu, a nice day trip on the North Shore cures the blues and rejuvenates. It is literally and metaphorically always "sunny" on the North Shore. The living is easy and simple, and the people have a more laid-back vibe. There's little to worry about. Plus, the beautifully-pure seashore is just a car ride and sandy footsteps away. You won't find the typical overcrowded Waikiki beach out here.
Although the drive from town is extremely long (for us, locals), I never mind it. The scenery is just gorgeous. Miles and miles of land, crops, and the sea and sky as a blue backdrop. What more could you ask for?
Brian and I went out to get
Giovanni's garlic shrimp that I was craving and eventually moseyed on home around sunset. Let me tell you, if you have the chance to watch the sunset out on the North Shore, do it. It is the most eye-catching thing you will see.
Going to the North Shore is a staycation in itself. And I always come back with a clearer mind and calm soul. Very refreshing!
Check out my adventure: Dole Plantation, Laniakea Beach, Giovanni's Shrimp and finally Aoki's Shave Ice before our drive back home.
