Waioli Tea Room

Having not been to Waioli Tea Room in quite awhile, I was excited to make the trip there when asked out for brunch. Waioli's been around for ages, and it's quite a gem. Located on a hill in Manoa's quiet neighborhood, many go there to have breakfast and to take in the cool, breezy morning air. Women also go there equipped with their voluminous hats for High Tea between 1030am and 330pm. Waioli has that sweet, lovely ambiance to it! It's perfect for a girl's lunch or wonderful Mother's Day brunch.

We went around 11am on a Sunday morning. Waioli has their own parking lot, but it was pretty filled up when I arrived. I was thankful I scored a space, since I've heard others have had to park down the road and walk up. Yikes.

We were sat outside and enjoyed the open-air atmosphere. Only thing I disliked (mucho) was the infestation of birds!! My goodness, they were everywhere. As a party next to us paid and left, their dishes and food still lay out. Birds came by the dozen to eat the leftovers. Definitely not too pleasing to my appetite.

Service was on par. Our waiter (forgot his name!) always made sure we had water in our glasses and was extremely attentive. A very lively character. I'll ask for him next time (or at least try my best to describe him).

Food? B and I ordered a Breakfast Burrito, Eggs Benedict and Guava and Berry French Toast. B chowed down on his burrito and loved it, while I finished every bite of my eggs bene. I don't know if we were too full off of our savory food, but we finished one french toast and took home the rest. I liked the unique guava-flavored toast- you won't find that anywhere else! Plus the nuts and mixed berry compote added a nice sweetness to it. Don't know if I'd order that again, but it's at least a "must-try-once" item. I also had their Calamansi Cooler- very citrusy, light and refreshing. I would recommend.
